“Only when the mind is tranquil can things be seen clearly. Only when things are seen clearly can one truly align with the flow of fortune.”
– Dasan Jeong Yak-yong –

[ Amid the Chilly Winds of Exile ]

When you fall from the highest peak to the lowest, loneliest place, how easily does the human spirit crumble?

Jeong Yak-yong, celebrated as one of the greatest minds of the Joseon Dynasty, was forced to spend 18 long years in exile, enduring bitter winds and isolation. Separated from his family, facing endless days of uncertainty, his first response was not to resent the world.

Instead, he quietly tidied his small room, sat up straight, and began to observe his own anxious mind. Realizing that nothing can be achieved when the inner self is in turmoil, he built a way to master his mind upon the ruins of his former life.

From the depth of that quiet contemplation, this single truth was born.

[ Chapter 1]

On the Shoulders of a Giant ]

The life lesson this great thinker offers from the depths of despair is surprisingly simple and clear.

We often believe that our minds will finally find peace once good fortune arrives. But the giant tells us the exact opposite. Only when our mind first enters a state of tranquility can we finally notice the countless opportunities and fragments of luck drifting past us.

A stormy sea
never reveals its depths.
Only when the waves subside and grow still
does the hidden pearl appear.

[Chapter 2]

Aligning the Mind to the Rhythm of Life

When things go wrong and helplessness sets in, we often try too hard to force a solution. Yet, those are the exact moments when we need to pause.

Will you remain in the noise,
or will you choose tranquility?
In the end, that choice rests entirely in your hands.

1. A Momentary Pause
Anxiety is merely a cloud passing through the mind. Letting it drift by without trying to force it away is the wisest preparation you can make.

2. A Shift in Perspective
Just as the deep ocean becomes visible only after the waves calm down, the solutions to life’s problems become clear only when your inner turmoil subsides.

3. Borrowing Wisdom
On days when the weight of life feels heavy, lean on the words of the giants who endured their own harsh seasons. Their fragments of wisdom become a lantern lighting a dark path.

[ The Final Chapter ]
Rather than grand secrets to success, I want to fill this space—book by book—with comforting, meaningful words that offer gentle solace at the end of a weary day.

How is the weather in your heart today?
If your mind feels exceptionally heavy, I hope you linger in this space for a moment, find a piece of healing, and take a well-deserved pause.

I root for your peaceful day with all my heart.
